{UK] Brexit checks causing delays at Dover, again | European Movement

Another summer holiday, and another delay at Dover. This story is almost too familiar now, isn’t it?

The Port of Dover has urged car passengers to arrive “three hours” before their ferry.

“This is up from two hours last year,” reports the BBC, “while before the end of the Brexit transition period the port gave no advice for when people should turn up.”

Now that the UK is classified as a “third country” by the EU, we have more hoops to jump through, school trips to Europe are becoming less and less common and we can’t spend as much time in the rest of Europe. Not just that but, when we get out on the other side, it is confirmed that mobile roaming charges – which are banned within the European Union – have returned on three out of the four major U.K. networks (EE, Vodafone and Three) post-Brexit.

With summer travel chaos looming for so many of us, we want to know: have you been affected by the delays at Dover since Brexit?

Yes
No

On a personal level, I have spent a lot of time reporting on the chaos down in Dover over the years, and from what I see and hear from people in all walks of life it has only been getting worse since the UK left the EU. The winding queues, the extra checks, the pet passports, it’s a lot to deal with for people who just want to go on holiday.

Thank you for completing our poll, and for sharing your views. Our movement is people-powered, so it’s important for us to understand what you – our members and supporters – think about all issues related to Brexit and to Europe.

Thank you,
